Preparing for the Inaugural AGM

Following the successful founders meetings held in February and March, the proposed association's application has been submitted for registration.

This will be followed by the inaugural General Assembly slated for the month of August 2010.

Only registered members will atttend the meeting as per the categories defined at the Founders Meeting.

FOLLOWUP MEETING ON THE PROPOSED ASSOCIATION-SATURDAY 20TH MARCH

Following the Founder's Meeting for the proposed Kenya Interpreters and Translators Association (KITA) that was held on 6th February 2010, it was agreed that a follow-up meeting would be held on 20th March 2010 at the same venue.
This is therefore to remind you of this important followup meeting.

The Steering Committee of the Kenya Association of Interpreters and Translators would like to invite you to our founders' meeting to be held on 6th February 2010 at the Regional Interpretation and Translation School premises at Hurlingham Shopping Centre.

This event is a precursor to its planned inaugural AGM and launching event to held in March 2010.

Despite Kenya being a conference destination, in addition to being a major tourist destination in this region, the role played by translators and interpreters in putting it on the conferencing map has not been hitherto recognized. This founding event is a celebration of that behind-the-scenes but important role.

In attendance will be all translators and interpreters The Kenya Association of Interpreters and Translators is a proposed professional association for translators and interpreters and it seeks to bring together all the practitioners in this field with a view to:

a) acting as a forum for interpreters and translators in order to promote their welfare, working conditions and other professional needs.
b) acting as a forum for promotion of goods practices among members by setting professional ethics and standards
c) linking translators and interpreters with similar associations throughout the world
d) arbitrating in case of professional or industrial disputes between members and clients
e) promoting professional development among its members through in-service training,
